Family Update
The big Six Ohhh… Yep, I went over the hill a long time ago. Now I am running down the other side, completely out of control. It's so steep. People are expecting me to retire. It's not going to happen! Instead, I have decided to retread and, God willing, go another 100,000 miles. I am refocusing the efforts of our ministry to maximize some of the best years of my life (more about that inside).

I did have some health challenges, but rather than bore you with the details, I'll give you an abbreviated version. Summer: a mystery virus put me flat on my back. Late summer: Kidney stone adventure made me wish virus had killed me. Fall: Gout which made me think I had passed a kidney stone through my big toe. As of this writing, I am healthy and happy and ready to go!

The big Three Eight…
Diane and I celebrated our 38th wedding anniversary this year. I have learned so much over the years. I have learned that when Diane reaches for one of her favorite chocolates, it is not appropriate to say, "Do you really need that?" I have learned that when your wife asks you, "If I die before you, do you think you will ever marry again?" your best chance not to die before she does is to run. My friend, Jeff Allen, summarizes it best. He says, when it comes to marriage you have a choice in life. You can be right or you can be happy. I choose happiness.

Most of all, I have learned that real love grows with time. After 38 years, I can't imagine life without my partner and friend. Diane has experienced great health and was there in my weakest moments to press for an answer on who I would marry when she is gone.
